The following is a simple objective definition of music.
Music is made up of three elements--time, notes, and consiousness. One can say music is
consciousness arranging time and notes.
Every aspect of music can be sub-categorized within the three elements or
cross-categorized among the three elements.
Time is more important than notes. This is provable because
time exists whether notes occur or not.
However notes must occur in time. (An aspect of every note is duration, which denotes time.)
Consciousness is more important than either time or notes because consiousness is the organizer of both time and notes.
